Some clever people have made this video about Photoshop. Very funny and oh so true…

Is it time to rethink the common receipt?

This thought provoking article discusses how we could rethink and redesigned the common reciept. Makes for interesting reading.

Why couldn’t cash registers also give you more information than just what you bought and how much you paid for it?

Creating Reusable Background Patterns

Here’s a great little tutorial on creating great background patterns for web pages etc. The trick is, and I have used it before myself, is to create one reusable transparent PNG background and use CSS background-color property to create various color skins. Check it out at http://webdesignerwall.com/tutorials/creating-reusable-versatile-background-patterns.”

CGI fun

I love watching great computer generated imagery, and those and know me, also know that I am passionate about design of course but also elephants, I especially like the African elephants. So when I came across this nice piece of work, I thought it would be great to post about. Nicolas Deveaux, you are a legend! This little short film would have taken a while to generate.

The difference between html based sites and cms sites.

Clients often ask me when they want a website developed what the difference is between a html based site or a cms site. Essentially the html sites are static, that means the content doesn’t change unless I as the designer goes in there and codes up an update. A cms site is a dynamic site, which means it is easier to update. And as a client if you have a bit of internet savvy, you would be able to relatively easily update portions of the site yourself. Both types of sites have pros and cons, please talk to us to discuss your options on your next big web project. :)

Bell Physio website now up and running :)

We have now completed the brand new website design for Bell Physio from Wanganui.

Earlier on this year, we held a brainstorming meeting, which we discussed the look and feel of the site with the client. They wanted a series of photos to be taken of their tools of the trade to be used for the project. So the first stage was to have a photoshoot with Ziganny Photography, at the Bell Physiotherapy premises. This gave us the brilliant images for the website.

We then designed the website carrying on their existing branding which we had previously established with their logo design and stationery to the media of the web.

View their website here. We agree with our client and think it looks great with a simple layout and the photos add an elegant touch. And if you are located near Wanganui and are in need of a fantastic Physio, please check them out.

When Graphic Designer’s Get Bored…

Yes, it’s true, we have now completed our new website upgrade. Please let us know what you think about it, and the new feature of the blog. We originally were going to just add a blog to the existing site, but then felt that the whole site could do with a re-vamp, so here it is…

Ban Comic Sans

Here’s a website that takes a lighthearted look at the design community’s most hated font: Comic Sans. There are some seriously funny font related videos on here too :) http://bancomicsans.com/main/
